West Texas A&M Nips Aggie Men in Overtime

CANYON, Texas – Junior Milton Garner scored 23 points and senior Nathan Murray posted a double-double but it was not enough for the Cameron Aggies (5-1) as they fell in overtime to Lonestar Conference rival West Texas A&M (5-0) at the First United Bank Center, 75-67.

Junior Thomas Razor posted a jumper with 15:43 left in the first to give CU their first lead of the night – a lead they held for nearly 20 minutes of basketball.

The Aggies led by as many as 15 points and went into the break up 11, but a furious WT rally in the second chipped away at the margin and a long-range three with 27 seconds remaining by the Buffs’ Rod Little forced the game into overtime.

CU was able to force an immediate turnover in the overtime period but was unable to capitalize and was outscored 12-4 in the extra period.

The Aggies shot for 38.8-percent (26-of-67) from the field and 50-percent (5-of-10) from behind the arc. Garner led the team in points and assists (six) while sophomore Vinicius Telo added 11 points, six boards and a pair of blocks.

Murray, the high-flyer from Fort Worth, Texas, scored 17 points to go along with 12 boards (six offensive, six defensive). It was his third double-double this season.

The Aggies return to action Saturday, Dec. 4, when they travel to Portales, N.M., to take on Eastern New Mexico in another LSC showdown. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Greyhound Arena.
