Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. (Nov. 12, 2011) — Cameron’s men’s basketball team opened its regular season Saturday night with a game against Panhandle State. The Aggies pulled ahead early in the first half and never looked back, cruising to an 84-61 victory.
“We played pretty well for this time of year,” said Head Coach Wade Alexander. “They opened up in a zone and we were able to beat it and hit some shots. We played a little bit of defense tonight, that helped. We need to improve on turnovers and we can improve on rebounding.”
The Black and Gold (1-0, 0-0) used an accurate attack from behind the arc to secure the victory, finishing 10-25 for 40 percent. First year Aggie, junior Devon Crabtree, led the aerial assault, finishing with 18 points and shooting 4-9 for three. In addition to the 18 points, Crabtree also added a team leading seven rebounds.
Senior Milton Garner also made his presence felt, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds and two assists. Junior Vinicious Telo finished with 13 points on the night. As a team, Cameron out rebounded its opponents 40-27 while also holding the advantage in shooting percentage with 53 percent on 34-64 shooting.
The Aggies will return to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, as it travels to Tulsa to take on Rhema Bible College.
