ABILENE, Texas (Nov. 5, 2011) ¬¬ Cameron traveled to Abilene, Texas Saturday to play its final regular season game. The Aggies fought hard against the Wildcats but fell in three sets, 20-25, 16-25, 25-27.
“We got off to rough start in (game) one,” said Head Coach Doug Tabbert. “We had our challenges in game two; came back in game three and had a lead late. Really could have put it away … we just couldn’t pull it off.”
Cameron (15-14, 9-11) came our fast in game three, picking up two quick points on two Adrienne Lawson kills. Lawson finished the game with a double-double, 11 kills and 10 digs. The Aggies would maintain control until the end of the match, when the Wildcats scored two consecutive points to win 27-25.
“We battled back in three and were very competitive,” Tabbert said. “It was a team effort to come back, we just didn’t quite get it done.”
Cameron will now shift its focus to the Lone Star Conference Tournament, where the Aggies will get a chance to exact revenge on the Wildcats. The game will begin at 12 p.m. Thursday in Canyon, Texas.
