Aggies Split Second Day of Baseball at Central Oklahoma

EDMOND, Okla. – The Cameron Aggies (6-1, 5-1 LSC) finished their three-game road trip to Lone Star Conference foe Central Oklahoma with a series win and second day split of the Bronchos (4-5, 2-4 LSC) in Edmond on Saturday.

The Aggies needed two days to play game two of the series after low light conditions forced game officials to postpone the game in the eighth inning.

Cameron picked up where it left off, up 9-5, going two more scoreless innings to earn the game and series victory.

In the rubber game, the Bronchos jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead including a grand slam in the first inning from Keegan Morrow.

An Andy Garcia double to drive in Kenny Held and a Mark Mahany SAC fly to bring in Nate Valdez in the second cut the lead to 6-2 but the Bronchos added three more in the second to go back up 9-2.

The Ags added another pair in the third and three more in the fifth, on a pair of singles from P.J. Ortega and Taylor Lyons, to draw the game to 9-7.

That was as close as they would get as the teams both added a single run in sixth and UCO tacked on an insurance run in the eight to hand the Aggies their first loss of the season.

Cameron returns to the diamond on Friday, Feb. 25 as a part of Cameron’s Super Homecoming Weekend with the series opener against LSC foe Eastern New Mexico. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
