LAWTON, OK - The Cameron University baseball team erupted for nine runs in the second inning and never looked back, cruising to a 14-2 win over Oklahoma Christian in the series opener on Thursday evening.
Cameron struck early in the second inning, beginning with a three-run home run from Nick Oliveira to give the Aggies a quick lead. The offense continued to pour it on as Wyatt Cunningham, Hunter Tate, and others contributed RBI hits, while Oklahoma Christian miscues allowed additional runs to score. Zane Roos capped the explosive frame with a grand slam to left field, pushing the Aggies to a commanding 9-1 advantage.
The Aggies added to their lead in the fourth inning with three more runs, highlighted by continued pressure at the plate. Cameron tacked on two more runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 14-2 and secure the run-rule victory. Oklahoma Christian managed just two runs on three hits in the contest.
On the mound, Jared Hughes delivered a complete game performance, allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out two to earn the win.
