San Angelo, Texas – The Cameron University baseball team dropped both games of the series doubleheader against Angelo State University on Saturday afternoon at Foster Field.
In game one, Cameron came up just short in a 6-5 loss despite a late push. Angelo State struck early with two runs in the first inning and added insurance runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh. Cameron answered with a run in the fourth and plated four runs across the sixth and seventh innings to rally, highlighted by a strong performance from Diego Villarreal, who went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. The Aggies finished with eight hits, but Angelo State held on late to secure the win.
In game two, Cameron dropped a 4-1 decision to Angelo State. The Rams took an early lead with two runs in the first inning and added another in the second. Cameron got on the board in the fourth inning, but could not close the gap the rest of the way. Angelo State tacked on an additional run in the sixth to secure the win.
