Cameron Baseball Unable to Match No. 25 Incarnate Word in Series Finale

SAN ANTONIO  – The Cameron Aggies (18-10, 11-7 LSC) baseball team was unable to keep up with the offensive firepower being dished out by No. 25 Incarnate Word (18-9, 15-6 LSC) as they fell in the series finale, 20-6, on Saturday at Daniel Sullivan Field.

The loss knocks the Aggies to fifth place in the Lone Star Conference while Incarnate Word is tied for first place.

The Aggies fell into a hole early as the Cardinals put up 19 runs in the first three innings, eight in the first, two in the second, and nine in the third.

In the second, they were able to plate a run off the bat of P.J. Ortega, a double to left field to bring in Joe Halley.

Chase Larsson added a pair of homeruns, extending his current NCAA Division II record streak of home runs in consecutive games to nine, and tying teammate Kenny Held for the most in the nation with 16.

He also led the Aggies at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

Corey Davidson was tagged with the loss after pitching just 0.2 innings. He surrendered seven hits and eight runs while walking one batter.

The Aggies will return to the diamond on April 1 when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville at McCord Field. First pitch is set for 3 P.M.
