Aggies ride past the Rangers, 84-64

Box Score ALVA, Okla. – For Cameron it was a tale of two halves, but they will take home a 84-64 win over Northwestern Oklahoma on Wednesday night off of a career high 22 points from Kimric Dixon.

Heading into halftime the Aggies only held onto a three point led over the Rangers. In the second half, Cameron put the gas pedal down outscored NWOSU 54-37 to cruise to their second win of the young season.

"It all started with our defense and then really good looks on the offensive end," said head coach Nate Gamet. "I thought in the first half we were forcing the ball at times but we really cleaned that up as the game went along."

In the first half, Cameron relied on hot shooting from Dixon who nailed down four three pointers in 12 minutes of work. Tank Mayberry also came in with six clutch rebounds and nine points down to help keep CU ahead 30-27 at the half. Despite the close score, CU shot the ball at 44% from the field compared to 29.4% from NWOSU.

The second half was a completely different story for the Aggies who opened up an incredible run holding the Rangers to just nine points for nearly ten minutes; while scoring 30 during that span. Cameron would shoot the ball at 63% percent (17-27) from the field and score 17 points at the line.

All of Cameron's starting five would score in double-figures and it is first time in a year that CU had five players with ten or more points in a game. Desmond Henry and Will Cook both were a rebound short of a double-double with 15 points. Craig Foster scored 13 and Mayberry ended up with 11 points and eight boards.

"Unlike the last few seasons we knew that we were going to be deep and could put up a lot of points," added Gamet. "As a group we did a really great job spreading the ball round and scoring points at the line."

As a group, Cameron shot 53.8% from the field and out-rebounded the Rangers 43-29.

Cameron will have some time off before traveling on Nov. 22-23 to Kingsville, Texas for games against Texas A&M International and a rematch with UT-Permian Basin.
