Team effort leads Aggies past UTPB

Box Score KINGVILLE, Texas – A rematch with UT-Permian Basin was something Cameron wanted for past few weeks and in round two the Aggies had the upper hand winning 78-65.

It was just a few weeks ago that Cameron (3-2)  was reeling from their first loss at home in over a year at the hands of UTPB (4-2), and on Friday the Aggies fell to Texas A&M-International giving this game more importance.

"This was a very big win for us, we held a team averaging over 90 points per game to 65 today," said head coach Nate Gamet.  "After last night's loss we had a team meeting and they understood what needed to be done; today we came back focused and upbeat."

"There is no question that we know that we can score against the best of them.  It was a really solid effort by the whole group with plenty of contributors to get the job done."

Cameron got ahead early in the first half and never looked back and held a 10 point lead into the final minutes before UTPB sank a three-pointer before the buzzer to cut it down to a 37-29 CU advantage.   The Aggies hit the ball well in the first 20 minutes nailing down half of their shots from the field while the Falcons struggled early shooting 34.6% from the field.

In the second half, Cameron never let up on UTPB maintaining a double-figure lead and shot 58.3% from the field.  Craig Foster and Desmond Henry came up big for Cameron with 10 second half points.

Foster led the Aggies with 17 points and six boards, one short of tying a career mark; he was also named to the All-Tournament team.  Will Cook had a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards, Henry finished the night with 13, while Aaron Thompson added 12 points.

The Aggies were outrebounded by UTPB 34-31 but Cameron's 13 point advantage in points off of turnovers proved to be a difference on Saturday night.

The road ahead doesn't get easier for Cameron on Nov. 28-29 they will travel to Springfield, MO to play Truman and then Drury, the defending NCAA Division II National Champions.
