Box Score LAWTON, Okla. – Craig Foster scores a career high 29 points to power the Aggie men past West Texas A&M tonight at the Aggie Gym, 72-63. This was CU's 11th straight home victory.
Foster, who scored his previous career high of 26 points earlier this season against Rollins, got points tonight and was 7-14 from the field, making four of seven from the three point arc and 11-13 from the charity stripe. Foster also had five rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
Tim Johnson also contributed big for the Aggies, scoring 16 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out two assists.
The Aggies shot the ball well, hitting 39.6% of their shots from the field, including 47.4% of their three point shots. CU was also 22-27 from the free throw line, with most of those coming towards the end of the game. They grabbed 39 rebounds and turned the ball over seven times.
In the first half, Cameron would hold the lead up until the 4:20 mark when WT took a one point lead. CU would then take the lead back until WT tied it at 30 and then Tez Dumars hit a three to put the Buffs up three at the half, 33-30.
The scoring went back and forth till Cameron would go on a 10-3 run with just under 10 minutes left in the game. The Aggies would then keep the lead hovering around the 10 point mark for the rest of the night, and put the game away with free throws in the last couple of minutes. The final score was 73-62.
WT (14-8, 6-8 LSC) got 18 points form Kennon Washington, 14 points from Dumars, and 11 points from Mason White. They were 33.9% from the field, with a .261 three point percentage and .667 free throw percentage.
The win boots CU’s record up to 13-7 overall and 9-5 in LSC contests. They will put that record on the line when they had to San Angelo, Texas to face Angelo State on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
