LAWTON --
Rebecca Green had 15 kills and no errors in a loss to Texas Woman's Friday Night at the Aggie Gym, 3-1. The loss drops Cameron to 10-12 on the season with a 3-10 Lone Star Conference record, while TWU moves to 15-7 with a 9-3 LSC mark.
The Aggies opened the first set on a tear by getting a quick 6-1 lead over TWU but that advantage would disappear and after an Aggie error both teams were locked up at 10 apiece. Both teams traded points until the Pioneers made a 6-1 run to take an 18-13 lead over Cameron and later win the set 25-18. TWU knocked down 11 kills and had a .233 hitting percentage, while CU had a -.050 with 12 errors and 10 kills.
Set two started out back and forth, until a six point run by Cameron gave them a 15-12 lead. TWU responded with a couple of rallies of their own and after CU tied it at 19, the Pioneers came back and closed out the set on a 6-1 run to win 25-20. The Aggies hit 167, while Texas Woman's hit .333.
In a must win set three, CU traded points until they took a small lead at 8-5. From there, it was back and forth, up until Cameron extended their small lead with a four point rally to make it 21-15. The Pioneers responded with a four point rally of their own, but the Aggies bounced back and used a 4-1 run to win the set 25-20. Both teams hit under .120 in the third frame.
Cameron jumped out to a 4-1 lead to start the fourth set, but a five point TWU rally at 8-4, erased that lead and put the Pioneers up by one. The two teams traded points and tied it at 10 a piece, but then Texas Woman's used a couple of two and three point rallies to extend their lead to 23-16. The Aggies made a late charge with four straight points to make it 23-20, but would only get one more off a TWU error and fall in set four 25-21. The Pioneers took the match 3-1, using a .190 attack percentage and holding CU to hitting .095 in the fourth set.
Green hit .536 in the match and recorded her third no error match of the season.
Kat Evans chipped in 10 kills and also added 14 digs.
Ingrid Boatman had 25 assists, and
Kayla Hebert recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 14 assists and 11 digs.
Cristina Viera led the match with 25 digs, with
Lindsey McCauley chipping in 18.
The Pioneers hit .192 with 12 total blocks and had four players with double digit kills, while the Aggies hit just .086 with five blocks.
The Aggies will return to action on Saturday to face Texas A&M-Commerce at 2 p.m.
