Cameron falls in overtime to East Central 96-95

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Cameron led by seven points with 45 seconds remaining but they would fall in overtime to East Central 96-95 on Saturday afternoon.  The Aggies who opened the season 3-0, have dropped their last three in a row; with the win against Cameron, the Tigers are 5-2 overall.

Cameron had five players in double-figures with Cameron Lee driving in six three-pointers to pace CU with 20 points.  Desmond Henry and Deondre Ray both had 18 points, Bruce Barron added 17, and Jamaal Brantley was a rebound short of a double-double with 10 points.

Both teams lit up the floor in the first half with a combined 100 points scored but it would be CU who would take a 52-48 lead at the midway marker.  Lee came away with 12 points and the Aggies would shoot 55.9 percent on the floor while limiting themselves to only four turnovers. 

In the second half, turnovers would lead the Aggies undoing with 14 committed that would lead to 13 points for East Central.   Following a layup by Tank Mayberry with 46 seconds left in the game to give CU an 85-78 lead, the Tigers scored six unanswered and trailed CU by one with 12 seconds to go.  Barron gave the Aggies a point at the line with 11 to go but a turnover and an Aggie foul allowed a pair of free throws to take the game to overtime.

East Central opened overtime with a three pointer and extended their lead to four points before the Aggies scored seven unanswered to take a 95-92 lead with 1:21 left.  CU's run would end with back-to-back jumpers by ECU while the Aggies would go unanswered in their next two possessions to fall by a point to the Tigers.

Cameron shot 50.8 percent on the floor, while East Central went 47 percent on their side of the court.  Rebounds were even a 36 apiece, the Aggies would commit 20 turnovers would swatted down 10 blocks.  East Central had 22 points off of turnovers, four more than Cameron, and 21 second chance points. 

The majority of East Central's offense ran through two players with Stirling Thomas netting a game high 34 points, and Henry Pwono having a double-double with 33 points and 13 rebounds.

Cameron will be off until Dec. 6 where they will travel to Oklahoma City to face Oklahoma Christian.
