LAWTON – The Cameron men will close out 2014 with a three game winning streak after handling Dallas Christian 111-66 on Saturday afternoon at the Aggie Gym. With the win CU ended their fall exactly how it started with a three game streak and will enter 2015 with a 7-4 record; the Crusaders with the loss fell to 4-13 overall.
Saturday's scoring outburst was CU's largest in seven years, and first 100 point game for the Aggies since Dec. 30, 2007 against Panhandle State where they scored 115.
Cameron had six in double-figures with two having double-doubles.Â
Jamaal Brantley came up with a game high 25 points and 10 rebounds,
Matthew Don and
Zac Tabor both had 17 each, Carmon Lee chipped in 14, and
DJ Jackson added 13.
Bruce Barron had 11 points and 11 assists, which was a six year high last set on Feb. 16, 2008 by Greg Morgan.
After opening with a quick 9-3 lead on DCC the Crusaders made things interesting and rallied back to tie the game at 20 each with eight minutes left in the half.  Despite Dallas Christian's run, CU regrouped and closed the half on a tear with 31 points while holding DCC to only 12 more to take a 51-32 lead at the half. Â
Cameron shot 55.6 percent from the field, while holding DCC to 37.9 percent on their side of the court; Brantley paced CU with 15 points at the half.
The Aggies controlled the second half coming out and shooting 67.7 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from behind the arc, and 71.4 percent from behind the arc. Cameron outscored DCC 60-34 in the second half and held the Crusaders to shooting 35.5 percent from the floor and 18.2 percent from the three point line in the second frame.
"After a sloppy first half, at half time we talked about slowing it down and just executing better," said head coach
Nate Gamet. "We came out in the second half and caught the ball in rhythm and moved it around well, which led to better shooting for us. When we get in rhythm we are a pretty good shooting team. "
Cameron shot a blazing 62.1 percent from the field and knocked down 14 treys, Dallas Christian went 36.7 percent on their side of the court. In the rebounding battle, Cameron pulled down 38 boards, 15 more than DCC.
"When we get back from the break we are just going to make sure we are good on the fundamentals, make sure that we are in shape, and really preach playing the way we need to so that we can clean up the things that we need to before we start conference play."
