Aggies snap skid at Canyon and beat Buffs 63-58

Box Score CANYON, Texas – Craig Foster paced the Aggies with a game high 23 points and snapped a seven game losing streak to beat West Texas 63-58 in Canyon on Saturday.

Cameron (10-12, 4-7 LSC) moved two games ahead of West Texas A&M for the eight seed in the Lone Star Conference Tournament but it remains unclear yet to who the Ags might play in Allen, Texas next month.

Foster's five assists against the Buffs moved him to 325 all-time and past Carlos Mayes for third in the Aggie record books.

Will Cook was the other Aggie in double-digits with 13 points; he would also pull down seven rebounds. Jonathan Patino in his first start since the second game of the season matched Cook with seven boards.

As a group Cameron edged the Buffs in rebounding 35 to 33 and shooting 46.2% (24-52) to 44% (22-50).

Foster provided nearly half of Cameron's offense in a largely defensive first half with 11 points. Cameron led by seven points in the final four minutes but went scoreless as WT closed the half with a 4-0 run but left to the locker room with a 25-22 advantage on the Buffs.

The Aggies came out in the second half and rolled to a 13 point 37-24 lead on the Buffs and maintained a double-digit lead until the 12 minute mark where WT would score 12 unanswered points to get within two of CU.

Cameron responded back with a 12-2 run to lead 59-47 with four minutes to go. The Buffs were not done though and pulled within five (60-55) with 30 seconds left in the game.

With the game closing West Texas fouled Foster and he missed one of two shots at the line, WT then went on their end of the floor and missed to three-pointer. Cameron pulled down the rebound and the Buffs fouled Foster again who would ice the game by sinking both free-throws give CU the 63-55 lead.

West Texas nailed a three pointer before the buzzer but they would fall 63-58 to the Ags.

Cameron will return home on Feb. 19 to host Texas A&M Kingsville at 8 pm.
