Box Score COMMERCE, Texas --
Craig Foster led the Aggies with a career high 32 points but the Cameron men couldn't keep pace with a hot shooting Texas A&M Commerce squad to fall 89-79 in Commerce on Wednesday night.
This was Foster's 38
th career double-digit game and bested his career mark by two with eight shots from behind the 3-point line. With six assists on Wednesday night he is 10 back of Carlos Mayes for fourth all-time in CU's record book with 322. Foster's 32 points was also the second highest total this season in the Lone Star Conference and the most 3-pointers made in game this year within the league.
Despite Foster's career night the Lions shot a blistering 57.8% (26-45) from the field and had five players in double-digits compared to the Aggies who shot 38.5% (25-65) as a team.
"It was great to see Craig finally came out of shell tonight and he did what we expected him to do all season," said head coach
Nate Gamet. "Overall, Commerce just got us out of our style of play tonight which is defense and we talked about it before the game that they are really good shooting team and we just let them take too many uncontested shots."
Cameron would edge out Texas A&M Commerce in the rebounding battle 35 to 34.
Will Cook was the Aggies second highest scorer with 17 points and he would also add six boards;
Desmond Henry had his second double-digit game in a row with 12 and six rebounds.
Cameron (9-10, 3-5 LSC) was out in front for the first ten minutes of the game before Texas A&M Commerce picked up the pace and grabbed onto a 41-34 lead at the half. Things didn't get better out of the locker room with the Lions marching out on a 14-3 run to start the second half to lead 55-39.
The Lions would get out in front by 18 points before Cameron made a run midway through the half to get within seven (64-57) but it would be the closest CU would get for the remainder of the night.
Cameron has now dropped their last five games in a row and they will return home to face number-two ranked Tarleton State on Saturday at 4 pm.
