Aggies hold off Southeastern Oklahoma in a five set thriller

LAWTON, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma gave Cameron a fight but the Aggies would squeeze out a five set (25-22, 25-16, 26-28, 14-25, 15-12) victory on Tuesday night.

Cameron came a point away from a three set victory but the Savage Storm battled back to take the set and the fourth set to push the Ags the distance for the second match in a row.
However, unlike Saturday's five set loss at home to Tarleton State, this time CU would earn the win.

"I thought we played well early and in the locker room I told the team that we need to come prepared because they (Southeastern) were going to fight back, which is what happened tonight," said head coach Qi Wang.  "Luckily we battled back in set five for the win."

"We are still learning about the process of winning matches and tonight was another step forward for us."

Cameron used an assortment of attackers against the Savage Storm and Shannon DuLaney led the way with 16 kills, her best outing since late 2012.  Rebecca Green nearly played a flawless match with 14 kills and only one error; she would also lead both teams with four block assists.  Kat Evans had a double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs; Tuesday's match was her sixth straight match with double-figure kills.  Cristina Viera also provided CU with a double-double outing with a team high 21 digs and 10 kills.

Ingrid Boatman had her third double-double in a row with a career high 43 assists while adding 16 digs.

Southeastern edged Cameron in hitting percentage with a .228, compared to CU's .218.  Cameron would be aided by 10 SOSU service errors during the night, which included the match winning point.

The Savage Storm had four with double-digit kills with Julia Benford knocking down 21 kills.

Cameron will move to 4-3 overall with Southeastern Oklahoma sliding to 4-6.

The Aggies will return to league play on Friday with a trip to Texas A&M-Commerce.
