CANYON, Texas –
Rebecca Green and
Kat Evans led the Aggies with seven kills but they would get swept by West Texas A&M on Tuesday night in Canyon. Cameron, who has dropped their last two matches falls to 5-5 overall and 1-4 in league play, lost their first two sets 25-18, 25-12 before giving the Lady Buffs a fight in the third but they would fall 25-22.
Cameron was limited to a .078 clip and 26 kills against WT, while the Lady Buffs had 51 kills overall.
"We weren't able to stop their offense tonight and we couldn't get anything going on our end," said head coach
Qi Wang. "I thought our energy was better in the third set but once they (West Texas) got going again we weren't able to match up offensively and defensively we couldn't get a block."
Following a quick 5-0 Cameron start to the match, West Texas A&M controlled the pace in the first two sets by limiting the Ags to 13 kills and scoring a combined 26 points. Cameron would come out of the locker room in the third with their first lead since the opening frame but the Lady Buffs would break a 14-14 tie and won the set.
Kayla Hebert had her sixth double-double of the season with 10 digs and 10 assists;
Cristina Viera would match Herbert with a team high 10 digs.
Cameron will return to action on Friday where they will travel to Midwestern State with first serve at 5:30 p.m.
