The Starting Five
1.    Saturday's contest will showcase a pair of the top shooting teams in the nation with Cameron ranked 13th, and Angelo State leading all programs nationally with a 55.5 percentage.
2.     Aggie senior Desmond Henry has scored in 19 straight contests and is the only player to start in all 17 games this season.
3.    The Aggies have had a pair of three game skids this season; earlier this season CU recovered by winning six of their next seven contests.
4.     DJ Jackson is sixth nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio with a 3.70; through 16 games he has 74 assists vs. 20 turnovers.  On Saturday, Jan. 3 at home against Northwestern Oklahoma he had a career high 11 assists.
5.  Cameron is 7-0 when holding a team to under 39 percent shooting and 6-0 when making between 50 and 59 field goal attempts.

First Tip: Angelo State has won their last three meetings with the Aggies, all of which were last season, and the Rams knocked out CU in the LSC Tournament to end their 2013-14 campaign.  Prior to the ASU streak, Cameron had won the five games straight against the Rams between 2011 and 2013.  Cameron trails the overall series 14-24 and in San Angelo, Texas the Aggies are 5-16 with their last win coming in overtime on Feb. 13, 2013.

On Wednesday night in Lawton, Cameron snapped a three game skid and bested Texas A&M-Kingsville for the 14th time historically, 78-71.   After trailing 31-30 at the half, Cameron used a 15 point run to pull away from the Javelinas in the second half.  A total of 31 points off of turnovers and second chance offerings helped keep the final score closer with TAMUK getting within six points in the closing minute, CU free throws would ice the contest in favor of the Aggies.  Deondre Ray paced the Aggies with a 20 point effort and he would also come away with a team high seven rebounds.

About Angelo State: The Rams enter the contest with the Aggies on an 11 game winning streak, with their last coming on November 28 against Colorado Mesa. They have one of the top scoring teams in all of Division II (92.6 ppg.), and lead the nation with a 29.4 scoring advantage. They are also second in the nation in assists (349) and 11th in steals (171). ASU holds a slight advantage over CU in three point shooting, getting 40.1 percent of their shots from behind the arc to go down, and hit 7.3 three pointers per contest. The Rams do not give up the ball a lot, leading the LSC in turnover margin with a 5.06 advantage, while also leading the conference with a 1.66 assist/turnover ratio.

Individually, Demarion Mayfield is coming off his seventh double-double of the season for Angelo State, and leads the team with 16.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per contest. The Rams have three other players averaging over 10 points a game in Chris Jones (14.9), Marsell Holden (14.4), and Rajon Kelly (11.4). Jones leads the conference in assists (5.4 apg.) and steals (2.8 spg.), and is second in the LSC with a .636 shooting percentage. Holden averages 2.9 three pointers per contest, and shoots 45 percent from the arc.

Sharing the ball: Against Dallas Christian on Dec. 20 and Northwestern Oklahoma on Jan. 3 the Aggies had back-to-back games with a player having 10 more assists.  Both Bruce Barron and DJ Jackson dished out 11 assists and it was the first time in at least the last decade a CU player has had 10 more for assists in consecutive games.

Coming Up: Cameron will be off until Saturday, January 31 where they will host Midwestern State at 4 p.m. inside the Aggie Gym.
