Andrew Brown returning to Alva to face the Rangers for the first time. Brown led the Rangers from 2007-15 and complied an overall record of 119-112. He was also a graduate of NWOSU and in 2013 Brown led his team to the Great American Conference regular season title and was the league's coach of the year.
Cameron will be looking to get back above .500 before starting league play on New Years Eve at West Texas A&M. Â As a team, CU is third best in the LSC in shooting at 49.5% but have struggled at the line and is last at 63.8%. Â The majority of the Aggies shooting this season has come from inside the arc with the Aggies averaging a league low 5.2 three-pointers per game. Â Red-shirt freshman
JV Long has proven to be worth the wait for Cameron after missing nearly two seasons. Long has started in all ten contests, averaging nearly ten points and is in the top-5 in the LSC in both steals as well as assists.
Schedule change:Â Tuesday's contest with the Rangers has been adjusted to a 7 p.m. start instead of its original time of 5:30 p.m.Â
Last Time Out:Â Cameron snapped a three-game skid with a 100-69 win over Bacone on Sunday to give CU their first 100 point game in one year. The Aggies struggled to pull away from the Warriors early but went to the locker room with a 10-3 run, leading 39-30, and going 14-for-34 from the field. Cameron could hardly miss in the second half going 22-for-34 from the field and after going 1-for-14 to arc in the first 20 minutes, they would knock down seven in the second period. Six CU players hit double-figures with
Jamaal Brantley leading the charge with 18 points and
Deondre Ray paced the Aggies in boards with seven and he chipped in 17 points.
JV Long led the Aggies with five assists and the team would shoot 54.5 percent from the field. Cameron controlled the rebounding battle by 16 over Bacone with 46 and limited their turnovers to only three.
About Northwestern Oklahoma:Â The Rangers are 1-6 to start their season with three or fewer points being the difference in half of the losses. The squad's lone win was against Southern Arkansas. NWOSU is coming off a 76-67 road loss to Arkansas-Monticello where the team shot 44% (27-61) from the field with five three-pointers for 27.8%. Deiondray Martin had a game high 16 points on the night. This year the team has a shot 43% on the floor and 31% at the arc with a -4.9 opponent scoring margin. The Rangers are led by Adrian Motley who averages 16.7 ppg and a team high 6.7 rebounds per game. Behind him is Zach Dumas and T'aries Taylor who average 11 ppg.
CU vs. NWOSU Series:Â The Aggies and Rangers have played a home-and-home series in Coach Gamet's first two seasons with CU winning three of those meetings. Â Last season, the Aggies won both match ups with overall series in CU's favor 19-9. Â However, there is a 26 year gap in-between meetings and CU's longest game was against the Rangers on Jan. 15, 1971 with Cameron winning 96-85 in a five overtime thriller.
