CU women dominate Northwestern Oklahoma 83-41

ALVA -- The Cameron women's basketball team closed out their non-conference slate with an exclamation point by dominating Northwestern Oklahoma 83-41 on Saturday afternoon in Alva.   Cameron's victory over the Rangers is the largest in the NCAA Division II era for the Aggies and biggest win margin since Nov. 25, 2013 when CU beat Hillsdale Free Will Baptist 93-48.

Cameron (6-3) led from buzzer-to-buzzer with ten Aggies contributing to the scoring effort shooting 29-for-55 from the field with 13 made three-pointers.  Brittany Hill scored a career high 21 points off the bench thanks to five make three pointers; Dayla Threatt put up 15 points and Natalie Halbleib also hit double-figures with 12 points. Markita Zeigler also had a season high eight points.

DJ Vallier and Halbleib led the Aggies with seven rebounds each and CU dominated the boards overall by 16 with 46 total rebounds.  Charron Montgomery had a team high three steals with Cameron scoring 24 points off of 13 Ranger turnovers.

Cameron's defense held Northwestern Oklahoma to only four made shots in the first 20 minutes and 27.4% for the entirety of the contest, a 54 game low.

Relina Johnson led the Rangers with a team high 19 points and they will fall to 1-8 overall.

Cameron's previous largest NCAA Division II win margin was 38 points on Feb. 19, 1997 against Oklahoma Panhandle State.

"We got everyone on the floor today and we shot the ball really well," said head coach Tom Webb.  "This was a good road win for us today and we did a great job being physical underneath the basket picking up rebounds."

"Our bench stepped up once a again with a big game for us but it was a really solid performance all around by everyone."

The Aggies will be off until Dec. 31 where they will face West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas at 2 p.m. to start Lone Star Conference play.
