Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aggies unable to contain Dallas Baptist in road loss

DALLAS, Texas -- The Cameron men's basketball team pulled within five points in the second half but they could not cool off a hot shooting Dallas Baptist team who pushed the Aggies back down to .500 on Wednesday evening. DBU shot 57.4% on the floor and went 19-for-32 from long range to win the non-conference battle 96-78 in Texas.

The 96 points is the most allowed by the Aggies since an overtime loss on Nov. 29, 2014 to East Central (96-95) in Springfield, Mo.

Cameron (4-4) maintained an early lead until the first official time out and back-to-back three pointers from DBU's Shannon Lilly put the Patriots ahead 16-10 and they would lead for the rest of the half. Dallas Baptist (4-2) bombarded the Aggies with 10 three-pointers and cut down a late CU run before the intermission with a trey to take a 47-38 advantage into the locker room. The Aggies trailed as many as 14 points to DBU who shot 57.1% from the field in the first 20 minutes.

The Aggies came out in the second half and bit off of the Patriot led and after a Deondre Ray jumper with 14:23 left it was a two possession (56-51) game. However, the CU momentum ended right after that shot and two long range three-pointers by DBU reopened their sizeable lead. Cameron would trail as many as 20 points late and they would get blanked in eight shots at the arc the entire second half.

Jamaal Brantley led the Aggies with 15 points and nine rebounds, he would also have a team high six assists. JV Long and Ray both had 11 each with Delvonte Pierre and Christian Crockett hitting double-digits with 10 points.

Cameron shot 27-for-61 from the field with only two made three-point shots but would out-rebound DBU 31-to-23.

DBU's Joey Miller knocked down seven of the Patriots treys and scored a game high 31 points with seven assists.

The last time Cameron allowed 95 or more points in a standard regulation game was on Nov. 26, 2011 when Science and Arts of Oklahoma put up 99 against Cameron in Lawton.

Cameron will next play on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. and face Rogers State in Claremore in continued non-conference action.
