Aggie men fall on the road to Rogers State

CLAREMORE– The Cameron men's basketball team fell in their third straight game 76-62 to Rogers State Saturday evening. The loss moves the Aggie men to 4-5 on the season, and Rogers State remains undefeated at 7-0 and is 2-0 all-time against the Aggies.
 
The Hillcats edged the Aggies in shooting, ending the game with 49% (25-51) on the floor and 37.9% (11-29) from behind the arc. Cameron's offense shot 46% (23-50) from the field and made four treys for 28.6% on the night.
 
Rogers State led for the entire first half with only one tie and held its largest lead of 14 around the six minute mark paced by J.C. Hartzler who hit double figures early, scoring 18 points in his 18 minutes on the court. The Hillcats outshot the Aggies from the field 51.7% (15-29) and made all five of their free throws with six treys to take a 41-28 advantage to the locker room.
 
Meanwhile, Cameron had an even 42.9% field (9-21) and three-point (3-7) percentage. RSU forced 11 Aggie turnovers and converted them into nine fast break points. The Hillcats also outscored the Aggies 10-4 in second chance points and had 16 points from within the paint.
 
In the second, CU went on a 6-0 run to cut a 16 point Rogers State lead to eight. The Aggies would come within five points of RSU three times with a 12-5 offensive run; however, RSU's Donald Moore hit back-to-back threes to dismantle the Aggies' comeback effort. The Hillcats reclaimed their double digit lead and went on to win 76-62.
 
Despite CU improving its shooting from the floor in the second, going 14-29 (48%), RSU held the Aggies to just one three-pointer while hitting five themselves for ten total on the game.
 
Rogers State won the rebound battle by one (30-29) and had 14 second chance points to the Aggies' eight. Cameron had 17 turnovers with which the Hillcats scored 18 points, and they also scored 15 fast break points.
 
Both teams had three individuals in double figures. Delvonte Pierre led CU by scoring 13 points and grabbing five boards and two steals. Deondre Ray also had five rebounds and was CU's second scorer with 12 points. JV Long rounded out the Aggie group with 11 points and three assists.
 
Rogers State was led by Hartzler and Moore who scored 24 points each for a combined 48 of the Hillcats' 76 points.
 
The Cameron men return to Aggie Gym on Dec. 13 for a Sunday afternoon contest against Bacone.
