CANYON, Texas – The Aggies battled back from a seven run hole and hammered out 21 hits to top CSU-Pueblo 16-10 in their first of two games on Saturday.
Cameron got four hit efforts out of
Carly Allerheiligen,
Tara Martini, and
Sonora Zukerman;
Chelsea DeLong plated three RBI along with Zukerman.Â
Both CU starter
Kelsey Watson and
Betsy Woodall gave up four runs in the first two innings before
Katelyn Craker in her first appearance of the season went five innings with two runs given up for the win.
The majority of CU's runs came in the middle innings with Martini doubling down the left field line to score Allerheiligen;
Paige Daino,
Lauren Renneker and
Jessie Ingrum all added to Cameron's total with RBI singles to cut the CSUP lead 8-5.
Colorado State-Pueblo would plate a run in the third off a wild pitch to give them a four run lead over the Aggies. However, CU's bats kept going DeLong singling in two and Zukerman getting within a run of a RBI single in the top half of the fourth.
The runs kept pouring for CU in the fifth with Daino doubling in a run, while the go-head run came off of a CSUP error, and Zukerman scoring another base runner to give the Ags a 10-8 lead.
Cameron plated one more in the sixth before having another three run inning in the seventh inning.
Of Cameron's 21 hits, six were doubles, and the rest were all singles.
The Aggies will come back and wrap up the day with Adams State. Â
