LAWTON –
Kelsey Watson's one hitter and a four run fourth highlighted a number-25 Cameron split with West Texas A&M at McMahon Field on Friday afternoon.
Watson twirled a career high 12 strikeouts against the number-2 Lady Buffs and won her tenth outing in a row to move to 12-1 this season. Her only hit would come with one out in the third inning and despite issuing six walks she escaped the opening frame with two punch outs after walking three WT hitters.  Watson's 12 strikeouts also was a four season high with Carrie Dilks last to hit a higher mark with 13 three times during the 2011 season.
Cameron's scoring all came at once with
Tara Martini and
Paige Daino getting one out walks, a wild pitch would put them in a base closer to home plate before
Lauren Renneker hit a single to score Martini;Â
Breezy McComas joined in and hit a double to center field to score Daino. Following a WT pitching change in the circle,
Sonora Zukerman singled to right field for CU's third run and
Macy McKay walked on a wild pitch that allowed McComas to score in the play.Â
Cameron's next two batters would strike out to end the fourth inning with a 4-0 Aggie lead which was more than enough for Watson who tossed 132 pitches in the shutout.
In game two, WT's bats woke early with three runs in the first and one more issued in the second.  Cameron had an opportunity in third but a double play with two on ended the inning and a line out to first turned into an inning ending double play in the fifth. The Aggies early run came in the fourth with McComas hitting her eigth homer of the season into left field to make it a 4-1 game.
The Aggies hung in until the end a WT error allowed Zukerman to get on first and an infield single by McKay put two on for
Carly Allerheiligen who found a hole in the infield to score Zukerman. Cameron still had no outs with two on but they would ground out and strike out twice to end the game.
Katelyn Craker (5-2) started the game and went two innings with four earned runs given up; Zukerman came in and tossed five scoreless.
With the split Cameron will go to 25-4 overall and 8-2 in the Lone Star Conference, West Texas A&M will go to 25-6 and 11-3 in league play.
Both teams will close out the four game series with a doubleheader starting at noon.Â
