WICHITA, Kan. – Cameron matched a program best 35 wins in a season after beating Newman in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon; the Aggies won the opener 7-1 and rallied from three runs back to win the nightcap 7-5.
The victories send Cameron to 35-14 overall matching a program bar that was during the 2008 season.Â
Tara Martini also homered for the 18th time of the season which is one off from tying a program best that was set by Shareena Pulse in 2008.
Aggie batters clubbed four homers in the doubleheader to push their season total to 79, they are still eight short from the program high that was set in a 65 game 2008 season. The Aggies have played 49 for far with four regular season contests to go.
Cameron's offense got going early and the sent 10 batters up to the plate in the opening frame. The Aggies knocked in five runs off of six hits, all of the runs came off of two outs with
Breezy McComas doubling to left field with the bases loaded for two RBI.Â
Sonora Zukerman,
Carly Allerheiligen, and
Misty Dooley all added RBI singles in the round-robin inning.
After a scoreless second, Zukerman hit her ninth homer of the season to add to the Aggie lead and make it a 7-0 ballgame.  The Jets countered in the bottom half of the inning with a leadoff single, which would later advance off of a wild pitch. With the runner in scoring position, NU singled to left field for their only run of the contest.
Zukerman did everything to help her squad in the opener including getting the win in the circle to move to 10-6 for the season.  She pitched the complete game, scattering six hits, and giving up only the one run.  At the plate she had the homer in the third inning and three RBI overall.
In the nightcap, Cameron opened with
Tara Martini hitting a solo shot for her 18th homer of the season, Renneker followed with a walk and Zukerman sent her home with a single to give CU an early two run lead.  However, in a blink of an eye the Aggie lead dissolved and like what Cameron did in the first game the Jets scored five runs with two outs to overtake the Aggies.
Things would settle down until the Aggie half of the fourth where McComas hit a solo homer to start the inning. Follow a lined out,
Jessie Ingrum singled, Dooley walked and Macy Macy singled to load the bases. Â
Chelsea DeLong flied out to put two outs on the scoreboard before Martini singled through the right side to tie the contest at five each.Â
Following a Newman switch in the circle Martini stole second to put runners on second and third but CU wouldn't need a hit, an illegal pitch moved the runners up a bag to score McKay as the go-ahead run.
After two scoreless innings, Zukerman hit her second homer of the day for an insurance run to push CU to a 7-5 win.
Katelyn Craker (9-3) picked up the win with five earned runs given up,
Kelsey Watson got her third save of the season after tossing a scoreless 2 1/3 innings.

The Aggies will close out the regular a season at home for a four game series with Angelo State starting on Friday at 1 p.m.
