LAWTON – Cameron let their bats do the talking on senior day by sweeping the doubleheader against Angelo State 5-0 in game one and 11-1 in the nightcap on Saturday afternoon.
With the wins Cameron took the series and prior last weekend CU had four total wins against the Rambelles, the Aggies had three in the last two days. Cameron also hit four homers in the doubleheader which was enough to surpass the program mark in season by one and now they sit at 88 in 53 games. The previous record was 87 which was set in 2008.
Tara Martini capped off her final regular season home contest with her 19th homer of the season matching Shareena Pulse's record that was also set in 2008.
In game one fans set saw a pitcher's duel in the circle through the first three innings. Angelo State would be first to blink and
Lauren Renneker blasted her 18th homer of the season over the center field fence in the home half of the fourth to put CU up 1-0.
The Aggies struck again in the next inning with
Jessie Ingrum and
Macy McKay hitting one out singles,
Chelsea DeLong would send both home with a homer to left field, and
Tara Martini matched CU's season homerun record at 19 with a hit that flow over the right field scoreboard.
CU's four run outburst in the fourth was more than enough for
Kelsey Watson who scattered four hits and tossed her ninth shutout of the season to move to 17-6 this season in the circle.
In the night cap, Cameron opened the contest on a roll with McKay and DeLong both reaching with no outs, Martini doubled off the center field wall for a RBI. Renneker hit a sac fly to right field to score DeLong before Daino hit her fourth homer of the weekend to give CU a four run lead.
Cameron wasn't done though and after a fielder's choice to score CU's fifth run, McKay singled up the middle to being
Misty Dooley home the Ags sixth run.
The CU bats added one more in the second inning with
Carly Allerheiligen hitting an RBI single and they added four more in the third to make it an 11-0 game.
Angelo State broke the scoreless streak with a solo homer in the fourth as their only run.
Sonora Zukerman only needed 52 pitches in fourth inning for the twelfth win of the season,
Betsy Woodall wrapped up the contest with a three out fifth.
With the series loss to the Aggies, the Rambelles will go to 33-14-1 overall and 15-12-1 in the LSC.
Both teams will meet again on May 1 in a four vs. five seed matchup in the LSC Tournament which will either be in Canyon or Denton, Texas.
