CANYON, Texas – Early West Texas A&M runs halted Cameron's run in the Lone Star Conference Tournament on Friday night. The Lady Buffs hit three homers and went up 10 runs before
Lauren Renneker hit her 20th homer of the year for CU's three runs.
Cameron scattered eight hits and left 10 on base, with
Macy McKay, and
Tara Martini both having two hits.
Kelsey Watson (18-7) went 2 1/3 innings after tossing over 100 pitches in the earlier contest with Angelo State. In the second start of the day, she gave up seven runs (five earned), with four walks, and two strikeouts.Â
West Texas starter Rita Hokianga went all seven innings, with three runs, and nine CU strikeouts. Â The senior Lady Buff pitcher moved to 19-5 this season.
On the base paths, the Aggies had three swiped bags with Martini,
Carly Allerheiligen, and
Misty Dooley all taking a base.
Katelyn Craker recorded two outs and a strikeout,
Sonora Zukerman went three innings and gave up three earned runs.Â
With win over the Aggies, West Texas will go on and face Texas Woman's on Saturday for the LSC Championship.Â
Cameron will fall to 39-16 overall and will await to see if they will be selected to the NCAA Tournament, which will be on Monday at 9 a.m. on NCAA.com
