DURANT – Cameron held off a late match rally from Southern Nazarene on Friday to win in four sets this afternoon in Durant.  With the win over the Crimson Storm, Cameron will move to 5-0 this season.
Kat Evans led the Aggie offense with 16 kills and had 16 digs for her third double-double of the year. Â Â
Jenna Gillean was CU's other hitter with double-digit kills with 13, both
Kayla Allen and
Jordan Williams had nine each.Â
Tori Luckenbill also had a double-double for the Aggies with 33 assists and 10 digs.Â
Ciandra Seabourn provided a team high 30 digs.
The Aggies had plenty of early momentum but their hitting percentage dipped down as the match progressed before ending with a .164 on the floor. The Crimson Storm's height proved to be effective at the net with ten blocks, doubling CU's total.Â
Cameron opened the match with four unanswered points forcing SNU to call a time out but it wouldn't slow down the Aggie netters who built up a 17-7 in the later stages of the set.  Evans paced CU with seven kills and a .500 clip on the floor with Gillean netting five.  Through the first set the Aggie were hitting .250 as a team with 18 kills and 29 digs.
Aggie momentum didn't slow down in set two with CU rattling off five unanswered points and never trailed to build up a two set advantage on the Crimson Storm.
The first time CU trailed in the match was at the start of set three with SNU opening with a kill.  Both teams remained locked in with the Aggies holding onto a small two point lead until a 7-1 run by the Cameron doubled their lead to 14-7.  However, the Aggies offense sputtered late and their lead turned until a one point advantage for the Crimson Storm.  After a
Kayla Allen kill to tie the set at 20, SNU returned with kill and a CU ball handling error to lend them a two point lead which they never gave up to win 25-22.
With some early momentum on SNU's side they would continue to attack the Aggies and picked up a 13-8 advantage follow a seven point outburst. Cameron would mount one more rally after the sets eighth tie at 19-19, the Aggies would score three straight and later take the match.
McKenna Qualls led SNU with 14 kills, Courtney Bowie and McKayla Benner both had nine each. Southern Nazarene hit .164 as a team and trailed the Aggies by three digs with 90.
Cameron will complete their day with William Jewel at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
