Ags sweep again; roll past Harding to stay perfect

DENTON, Texas – The Cameron volleyball team is undefeated through their opening weekend for the first time since 2009 after sweeping Harding in straight sets (29-27, 25-17, 25-15).  This is the third match in a row that the Aggies used the minimum to defeat an opponent something they have not done since 2006.

Cameron (4-0) had balance throughout the match with a .326 attack percentage and 56 digs, with three individuals in double-digit kills. Kat Evans paced the Aggies with match high 19 kills and 16 digs, Jordan Williams, Kayla Allen, and Jenna Gillean all had one error each while combining for 33 kills.    Williams had CU's other double-double with 13 kills and 11 dig and Gillean came up with a match high five blocks.  Allen also had eight kills, with Tori Luckenbill dishing out 51 assists.

Despite the lopsided win for the Aggies they had to battle early against Harding with 17 ties in the first set.  Both teams would reach set point before Cameron closed the book late, with 23 of the 29 points by the Aggies coming from kills.

In set two, the Aggies got off to an uneven start and trailed 10-4 to Harding before Cameron rattled off ten straight points off of seven kills and two aces to never look back at HU to take the two set advantage.

With all the momentum, CU never trailed and hit .429 in set three to roll to a quick victory over Harding (1-3) who was picked second in the Great American Conference preseason poll.

HU hit .167 on their side of the floor with Molly Howard leading her squad with 14 kills.

The Aggies will be off until this coming Friday where they will play two matches at East Central University to face Southern Nazarene and William Jewell.
