Game Notes

First tip: Cameron's three game home stand continues with Texas A&M-Commerce coming into their contest on a nine game winning streak.  The Aggies are .500 in four Lone Star Conference contests and the Lions are 2-0 with their most recent win coming at Angelo State who was ranked number-4 in the nation.

Jamaal Brantley has had the hot hand as of late for the Aggies with the senior averaging 22 points in his last two contests.  Last Thursday at Eastern New Mexico, he had a career high 27 points in only 18 minutes of action.  Through 16 games this season, Brantley is leading the Aggies with 14.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Cameron will play their next three home contests on Wednesday evening with the upcoming game with the Lions being presented by Coca-Cola and Lawton Rotary.  Once again this season, fans can get in the game for free by exchanging in a non-perishable canned food item; all items donated will go to the Lawton Area Food Bank.  Following the contest with the Lions, the Aggies will have a rare weekend off before hosting Angelo State on Jan. 20.

Last time out: Cameron rallied back from 17 points in the second half and took a late lead but a six unanswered points by West Texas A&M in the final 26 seconds would be enough to overtake CU 83-78 in a heart breaker on Sunday night in the Aggie Gym.

Five CU players would hit double-figures with Jamaal Brantley scoring 17, Deondre Ray had 15, JV Long came up with 14, James Cross netted 11, and Cameron Lee put in 10.   Cameron was out-rebounded 31-to-33 but only committed nine turnovers against the Buffs.  Despite CU not giving up the ball much it was an Aggie turnover with five seconds to go with a three-point WT lead that sealed the game for the visiting squad from Canyon, Texas.  The Buffs would steal the ball on the CU side of the court and picked up a layup at the buzzer to close out the night.

About Texas A&M-Commerce: The Lions are 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference following wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville (92-68) and No. 4 Angelo State (93-88) to bring their streak to nine. From the league opener, A&M Commerce is first in the league in field goal percentages (50.4%), three-point fg percentages (41.8%) and blocks (7.50 per game). However, the Lions are seventh in free throw percentages, shooting 66.7% at the line. Everrett Pleasant leads the Lions by averaging 17 ppg and Bryant Crowder is behind him with 16.5 ppg. Crowder also leads the league in blocks, averaging 3.5 in the Lions' two LSC contests.

CU vs. A&M-C Series: The Aggies trail the overall series with the Lions 27-20 and in Lawton CU holds a 7-5 series edge.  Last season, A&M-Commerce snapped a four game skid in the Aggie Gym by winning 76-71.   Presently, A&M-Commerce has won the last three meetings in a row after dropping six of their last seven to the Aggies. In four meetings with the Lions, Coach Nate Gamet is 1-3.
