LAWTON– The Aggies sent their match to five sets but would fall to Texas Woman's (25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 23-25, 15-9) on Tuesday night.
The contest against the Pioneers is the Aggies' first five-set match since their home and conference opener on Sept. 16 versus West Texas A&M.
Paige Dixon and
Jenna Gillean highlighted the Aggies against TWU with each cruising to a double-double.
In a well-rounded performance, Dixon posted 11 kills, a career high 25 digs, four service aces and assisted with two of CU's eight team blocks.
Gillean led Cameron with 21 kills and recorded 11 digs to earn her sixth double-double on the year.
After falling in the first two sets, the Aggies rallied to take the next two games.
In set three, TWU grabbed a 3-2 lead and held it outlasting six Aggie ties. But Cameron would take advantage of two Pioneer errors in addition to a kill from
Ania Keene for the 15-13 edge. It was the Aggies' turn to sustain through three TWU ties to win set three 25-20 boosted by a .235 hitting clip and 18 kills.
Set four saw only two tie scores as the Aggies broke ahead 24-17; however, the Pioneers sparked a six point chain which included two blocks on Cameron's set point. With a one point gap, TWU committed a service error brining Cameron the 25-23 fourth set victory.
Cameron's comeback attempt would end up short in the fifth set as the Aggies trailed the Pioneers who sparked on offense with a .364 attacking percentage to take the set and match 15-9.
Cameron drops to 2-18 and 0-11 in the LSC, while Texas Woman's moves to 7-13 and 3-8 in the league.
The Aggies will travel to Western Texas for their next two matches against West Texas A&M and UT Permian Basin.
