LAWTON– The Cameron volleyball team's conference woes continued as No. 12 Angelo State swept the Aggies in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-15) on Saturday afternoon.
The Aggies dropped their ninth straight match after hitting .108 against the Rambelles who posted a .325 hitting clip along with nine total team blocks.
For her second match in a row,
Paige Dixon led the Aggies with eight kills.
Shelby Mench contributed 21 assists and assisted in both of CU's two team blocks.
Meanwhile,
Kylee Quillin recorded a team high 14 kills with
Jenna Gillean behind her at 11.
Off a 7-7 tie in set one, ASU gained the lead spurred by three straight Aggie attack errors. Ten CU errors would help the Rambelles to a 25-15 first set win.
ASU held momentum in set two, never losing the lead and combated Cameron's 13 kills with 19 of their own for a 25-19 set two victory.
Set three saw Cameron's first lead of the match as Cameron put down two kills paired with a Rambelle error for the 4-3 advantage. ASU tied it at four, and CU's
Joseline Caraveo recorded a kill for the 5-4 lead.
However, errors would plague the Aggies later as the Rambelles strung a seven point chain off five straight Aggie errors along with two kills to outmatch CU with a .464 hitting clip and 25-15 win.
Cameron is now 2-15 and 0-9 in the Lone Star Conference. Angelo State moves to 16-2, and 7-1 in the league.
The Aggies will hit the road on Tuesday, traveling to Southern Nazarene for a non-conference match.
