Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Aggies top Rogers State with second-half comeback

LAWTON, Okla.–  Sophomore point guard JV Long scored 21 points, and the Aggies overcame a slow first half to power past Rogers State 78-68 on Wednesday evening.

Despite trailing for most of the first half and entering halftime with a nine point deficit, CU gathered momentum to open the second with a ten point chain over two minutes to nab their first 42-41 lead since the game's start.

Cameron pressed forward, limiting RSU to zero percent from beyond the arc to open their largest lead of 15 points (75-60) with 3:11 left on the clock and would outscore the Hillcats 46 to 27 in the second half comeback.

Long lead the Ags with 21 points, six rebounds and two blocks while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 at the charity stripe. Three additional Aggies tallied double figures in Stacey Lambert (13 pts), Tyler Williams (12 pts) and Trey Hall (12 pts).

Cameron overcame their cold start having shot just 33.3 percent from the field with just two made three-pointers, one of which was from Long in the opening minutes for CU's only bucket in a nearly six minute drought.

The Aggies were not helped by a three-point barrage from the Hillcats who went 8-for-12 at the arc led by Travis Hester who made six from out deep and totaled 20 points in the opening frame.

However, the Ags would keep Hester from scoring in the second half and prevent the deep ball altogether. Cameron sparked the second half with their ten point run which was flourished by a three-pointer from Long on the fast break assisted by Tyus Momoh who forced a steal.

Cameron finished the game having shot 44 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 73 percent at the line.

The Aggies also outmatched RSU at the glass, out-rebounding the Hillcats 39-30.

Cameron advances to 5-1 on the season while Rogers State drops to 3-2.

The Aggies will next host Dallas Baptist at 3 p.m. on Nov. 26 in the Aggie Gym.
