LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron inched within two points of No. 7/9 Angelo State in the final half minute, but a pair of Ram free throws would deliver the Aggies a 81-77 loss on New Year's Eve in the Aggie Gym.
ASU would shoot 90 percent from the free throw line making the difference in the contest with the Aggies as the Rams remain undefeated at 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the Lone Star Conference.
Cameron drops to 9-5 and 2-2 in the league following their first home loss of the season.
Tyus Momoh led the Aggies with 15 points and tallied a career high six steals marking the first time since 2015 that an Aggie player has recorded 5 or more takeaways. Back on February 11, 2015, Desmond Henry recorded five at Eastern New Mexico.

JV Long 12 to round out the Ags in double digit scoring.
The first half saw highly contested action with four lead changes between both teams. Cameron grabbed their largest lead of eight by making three treys in a row for a 27-19 advantage and would later repeat that spread by leading 36-28.
However, the Rams would score ten unanswered points over three minutes to take back the lead with 30 seconds remaining.
JV Long would even the game two good free throws to end the first frame on a 38-38 tie.
Cameron gained 16 of their first half points off Ram turnovers and five of those were Aggie steals. The Aggies shot just 28 percent from the field but made up for it beyond the arc with six made three-pointers and an 8-for-10 effort at the line.
ASU shot 46 percent on the floor and 83 percent from the charity stripe while making 2-of-7 three-pointers in the first half.
The Aggies found themselves down by as much as 14 points in the second half under the ten minute marker but would chip that lead down to just two with two minutes remaining. Angelo State stayed hot shooting 58 percent from the field while the Aggies shot just 30 percent on the floor.
A couple of fastbreaks by ASU almost put Cameron out of contention, but the Aggies responded with back-to-back treys to come back within two points.
In the final 15 seconds, ASU went to the line and made both to extend by four, and Cameron missed two tries from beyond the arc as time expired for the 81-77 loss.
Both sides made four three-pointers in the second half, but the Rams made all nine of their free throws while Cameron went 7-for-10 at the line.
The Aggies were outrebounded by ASU 47-44, and the Rams recorded 12 blocks over the Aggies.
Cameron will return to the Aggie Gym on Jan. 5 to host UT Permian Basin.
