CANYON, Texas -- Cameron's bats salvaged another split after falling to #12 St. Mary's 8-4 in the early afternoon and beating CSU-Pueblo 10-8 on Saturday. The Aggie bats banged out 21 hits in the two contests after getting no-hit on Friday by Fort Lewis.
In game one, the Aggies had to climb out of a hole after giving up a three-run homer in the opening inning.
Jordan Kisselburg posted a run for the Aggies in the second with a double to right field scoring
Chelsea DeLong in from third.
However, the Rattlers took the run back in the bottom half of the inning producing a two-out RBI single. Cameron got things going with back-to-back singles to open the third inning and
Paige Daino cranked out her first homer of the season to left field to tie the game at four each.
After holding SMU (7-2) quiet for an inning, they recorded a two-out double that would spill over to two walks to load the bases. The Rattlers would pick up two go-head runs off of a double and one more before the inning would conclude to take a 7-4 lead. Cameron would go scoreless for the rest of the game and SMU added a run in the sixth to win 8-4.
Emily Wasinger started the game giving up four runs off of six hits in three innings, she would not be a factor in the decision.
Alyssa Osterdock (2-3) was charged with the loss going three innings with four earned runs charged.
Defensive miscues by the Aggies in the afternoon contest against CSU-Pueblo almost proved too costly with four errors resulting in seven unearned runs. The Thunderwolves (1-8) would send ten batters to the plate in the first inning off of three errors to score five runs. Â DeLong assisted the Ags in the second with a RBI single before batting through the order in the third overtaking CSU-P with five runs on four hits.
However after a scoreless inning, the Thunderwolves opened the fifth by loading the bases with no outs; they plated a run off a walk, fielder's choice, and a single to take an 8-6 lead. Â The Aggies weren't done through, and
Sonora Zukerman doubled to right center to pick up a run and Daino hit a sac fly to tie the game;
Carly Allerheiligen singled through the right side for the go-ahead run and
Jessie Ingrum doubled in an insurance run to go up a pair. The Thunderwolves would go down in order in the seventh to close out the game.
DeLong went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI, and Allergeiligen had two hits and two RBI in the win.
Wasinger started the game recording an out in the first with where five runs crossed home plate, four of those runs were unearned. Â Osterdock (3-3) completed the game going 6 2/3 with four hits and no earned runs charged.
With the split, the Aggies are now 7-5 overall and will close out their trip in Canyon with Chadron State on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
