Cameron softball blasts past William Jewell and Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. –  Cameron is now riding a six game winning streak after winning their first two games at the Northeastern State Riverhawk Invitational on Saturday.   The Aggies out-slugged William Jewell 17-10 and run-ruled invite host NSU 11-3 in five innings to move to 12-5 this season.

The Aggies got off to a monster start against the Cardinals in game one after going up 11-2 after nine run second inning.   Cameron sent 16 players up to the plate in the inning with eight hits, none of which cleared the fence.

However, William Jewell (2-4) scratched at the CU lead after getting two runs in the second and three more in the third to make it an 11-7 game.

Cameron picked up three runs in the fourth off of a Macy McKay single and a Breezy McComas two RBI double.  In the fifth, William Jewell picked up all three of those runs back off of a pair of two out doubles.

The Aggies kept the ball inside the fences for some insurance runs in the seventh with Chelsea DeLong doubling in two runs and she would later score the team's seventeenth run of the game off a hit from Nikki Horton.

Annie Combs hit the games only homer in the first inning and she along with McKay, McComas, and DeLong all had three hit games.

Alyssa Osterdock started the game but would get a no decision after tossing the first 2 /23 innings.  Sonora Zukerman (4-1) picked up the win in relief.

In the nightcap against the Riverhawks (8-4), Cameron railed back from an early 3-1 hole win ten runs in the final three innings.

McComas and Zukerman both had solo homers in the third, Carly Allerheiligen highlighted a seven run fourth inning with a grand slam down the right field line.

CU's final run came in the fifth off of a bases loaded walk.

Zukerman had four hits and two RBI; Allerheiligen had a five RBI day at the plate.

Emily Wasinger (4-1) earned the win tossing a complete game.

Cameron will complete their trip on Sunday with games against Lindenwood and Rogers State.
