TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Cameron's winning streak is now up to eight games with an 8-0 win over Lindenwood in five innings on Sunday morning and an 8-1 victory over Rogers State in the afternoon at the Northeastern State RiverHawk Classic.
With the four wins in Tahlequah this weekend, the Aggies have moved up to 14-5 in non-conference play.
In the early morning contest, Cameron struck first in the opening frame after they put two on with no outs for
Annie Combs who homered on a 1-1 count put the Aggies up three runs. After two scoreless innings,
Breezy McComas hit a RBI single with two outs to score
Nikki Horton in from second base to put CU up 4-0.
The Aggies continued pour on the runs in the fourth inning by putting a four spot on the scoreboard; they picked up a run off of a LU wild pitch,
Chelsea DeLong doubled in a pair, and McComas drew a bases loaded walk.
Sonora Zukerman pitched a near no-hitter and got to the final out before a infield single spoiled the bid; the Aggie senior allowed only one walk and moves to 5-1 this year.
Horton and McComas both had two hits in the morning contest; the loss to Cameron sends Lindenwood to 2-6 overall.
In the nightcap, the Aggies jumped ahead in the second inning scoring two unearned runs and added on more in the third off of a Combs fielder's choice. Rogers State picked up a two out RBI in the fourth before CU sent ten batters to the plate in the bottom frame for five runs.
Paige Daino,
Abbey Warren, Combs, DeLong, and McComas all had a RBI in the fifth.
The eight runs was more than enough for CU starter
Emily Wasinger (5-1) who gave up one run in the contest.
DeLong went 3-for-3 against the Hillcats (4-9) who had six hits as a squad.
The Aggies will have a day off before traveling to Odessa on Tuesday to face Texas-Permian Basin for a doubleheader starting a 2 p.m. .
