LAWTON – Cameron split their first two games in a long afternoon battle with Texas A&M-Commerce at McMahon Field on Friday afternoon.   The Aggies took game one to a score of 15-8, and the Lions would take the nightcap 6-5.

With the split the Aggies are 15-6 overall in 1-1 in Lone Star Conference play; Texas A&M-Commerce is 12-3 and also 1-1 in league action.

Cameron struck early with a three run homer by
Paige Daino in the first inning and they would add four more in the second inning off a three run shot from
Breezy McComas and a homer by
Annie Combs which hit the top of the foul pole to go up 7-0.

In the third, the Lions picked up a run before the Aggies put another four spot on the scoreboard off a solo shot from
Carly Allerheiligen; Combs and McComas both drove in the three pull ahead by ten.

However, the fourth inning was all Lions and they would hit a three run homer and knock in four runs to cut the CU lead to 11-8.Â

Cameron picked up an insurance run in the fifth off a Daino bases loaded walk, and McComas hit her second three run homer in the sixth to go up 15-8.

McComas would three hits and have seven RBI in the contest; Daino left the field with four RBI.
Emily Wasinger (6-1) pitched a complete game with three strikeouts.

In the nightcap, the Lions and Aggies both scored a run in the first inning before A&M-Commerce homered and singled to centerfield in the second to go up 3-1. Cameron picked up a run in the bottom half of the inning to go back to a one run game.

After a scoreless inning, Texas A&M-Commerce scored a run off a ground out before
Abbey Warren scored a run off a sac fly to make it a 4-2 game.Â

The Lions increased their lead in the sixth scoring two runs to extend their lead on the Aggies. In the bottom half of the inning, Warren pushed Cameron closer with a 2-0, two run homer to left field to get CU back by one.  Cameron would manage to get the winning run at home plate in the seventh but the game would end off of a ground out, tag out at second base, and a pop up.

CU only had four hits but reached base ten times off of A&M-C walks.

Sonora Zukerman (5-2) was charged with the loss pitching the first three innings;
Alyssa Osterdock tossed the final four in relief.

The Aggies and Lions will wrap up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.
