Aggies can't find rhythm in loss to Tarleton State

LAWTON – Cameron could never find a consistent rhythm on Saturday as they would fall 73-61 to Tarleton State in the Aggie Gym.  The loss to the TexAnns snapped a six game winning streak in favor for the Aggies and is CU's second loss in a row in Lone Star Conference Play.

The Aggies coughed up the ball 18 times which led to 27 points for TSU and at the line, CU struggled going 12-for-21.

Dayla Threatt led CU with 19 points and also pulled down six rebounds, Brandi Leal had 15 with five made three-pointers which gave her 163 in two seasons at Cameron and needs only three to tie Brittany Cooksey (2001-06) for the career record.

Leal carried the Aggies early with four treys and the team shooting 6-for-12 from the field; they would take a 19-15 through the first period.  However Cameron hit a wall in the second period and made only two shots while coughing up the ball six times.

Tarleton State shot 47% from the field and scored 19 points with seven of them coming off of CU turnovers.   Cameron would trail 34-25 at the halftime horn with TSU getting 12 points off of Aggie miscues.  At the line Cameron missed six of their ten shots.

While the Aggies improved their shooting to 41% (12-for-29) from the field and 8-for-11 at the charity stripe in the second half, it would not be enough to stop TSU. The Aggies did; however, cut a 17 point TexAnn lead in the fourth quarter to six with 1:04 left, but would not score again as Tarleton State closed out the game with six straight shots at the line to win 73-61.

The Aggies will fall to 12-8 and 6-5 in the LSC, Tarleton State advances to 12-9 and 6-5 in league play.

Cameron will return to the floor on Thursday where they will host Eastern New Mexico at 5:30 p.m.
