LAWTON – Despite falling 4-2 to Midwestern State in the series opener, Cameron was able to cap the doubleheader with a 5-4 win following a
Sonora Zukerman walk off single on senior day.
With the doubleheader split, the Aggies are now 30-17 overall and 15-11 in Lone Star Conference play, while Midwestern State is 26-24 with an 11-15 league record.
In game one, the Aggies struck first as
Breezy McComas hit her first homer of the game to left center. However, Midwestern State answered back in the second inning with a two run homer to lead 2-1. The Mustangs furthered their advantage to 4-1 in the seventh with a 2 RBI double.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, McComas blasted her second home run on the day, and 34th of her career, to put the Aggies within two, but a pop up followed to end the inning for the 4-2 Mustang victory.
Hits were split at six each with
Emily Wasinger (15-7) being charged with the loss. MSU's Peyton Helton (7-9) struck out ten Aggie batters in the Mustangs' win.
For game two, Cameron plated two on a pair of singles in the first inning. MSU tied it up 2-2 in the third, scoring on a groundout and a double, but the Aggies took the 3-2 lead back in the bottom of the frame on a bases loaded walk.
A two out 2 RBI double gave MSU the 4-3 advantage in the sixth inning, but Cameron would tie the game on a RBI single and win 5-4 as
Sonora Zukerman singled to right field bringing in the winning run.
Zukerman (9-5) also earned the Aggies' win in the circle in addition to having three of Cameron's seven hits at the plate. MSU recorded six hits and four errors.
The Aggies will resume their series with MSU on Saturday with a 12 p.m. doubleheader start.
