LAWTON – The Aggie baseball team performed a doubleheader sweep of Eastern New Mexico on Saturday, defeating the Greyhounds 9-0 in game one and capping the night with a 10-1 win at McCord Field.
Brandon Wright blasted two 2 RBI home runs in game two, helping Cameron combine for 18 hits between the two games. In the double header, the Aggies combined for four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and four stolen bases.
Cameron's doubleheader sweep brings the Aggies to 20-10 overall and 9-10 in the Lone Star Conference, while ENMU drops to 9-24 and 2-17 in the LSC.
In game one, Cameron led 1-0 when the Aggies came up big in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs off of six hits including a one run double by
Nate Hale. The Aggies would also take advantage of an ENMU throwing error on a fielder's choice to plate two.
The Aggies would tack on one more in the bottom of the sixth as
Tyler McKinzie powered an RBI triple to left center to edge the Greyhounds 9-0. ENMU was held to three hits while CU recorded seven.
Javarias Banks (3-1) got the win on the mound for the Aggies; in four innings of work, Banks allowed two hits while striking out six Greyhound batters.
For the nightcap, Cameron scored three runs in the bottom of the first on an RBI double followed up by a two run homer from Wright. Wright would hit another 2 RBI home run in the sixth inning to further the Aggies' advantage to 10-1.
Eastern New Mexico's lone run came in the fifth inning when a Greyhound who doubled and advanced to third on a passed ball would later tag up and cross the plate on a sacrifice fly.
The Aggies accounted for 11 hits in game two with three doubles and three stolen bases.
Bryan Belote (3-3) was credited with the win after he pitched a complete seven innings where he struck out nine while allowing five hits.
Cameron will complete its series with Eastern New Mexico at 1 p.m. on Sunday at McCord Field.
