LAWTON– Cameron concluded its three game home stand with a 3-0 loss to Midwestern State (29-27, 25-22, 25-19) on Tuesday evening.
The loss halted the Aggies' three game streak against the Mustangs and brings Cameron to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the Lone Star Conference. MSU advances to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Jenna Gillean led the Aggie offense with 13 kills.
Kylee Quillin had 15 digs, and
Haleigh McClain-Ward contributed 19 assists.
Overall, the Mustangs hit .283 on the match to CU's .196 hitting clip, while the Aggies recorded six total team blocks versus MSU's four.
To start the match, Cameron needed one more point to take the first set, but MSU chained together three kills from Kiley Beaver along with an Aggie attack error to tie the set at 24-24.The set tied three more times with the Mustangs taking the win with back-to-back kills, 29-27.
Cameron never led in the second set, but was within two of the Mustangs late before falling 25-22.
In the third and final set, MSU hit a set best .325 to boost a 25-19 victory. The set tied three times and for a final time at 3-3, before a five point chain pulled MSU out of the Aggies' reach. While Cameron would also hit a set best .250, they could not surpass 17 Mustang kills.
Kiley Beaver led MSU with 15 kills.
Cameron will be on the road for their next four matches stopping first at Western New Mexico on Friday.
