CU falls 3-1 at Eastern N.M.

PORTALES, N.M. – Jenna Gillean knocked down 12 kills but the Aggies would fall 3-1 on Saturday evening at Eastern New Mexico in continued Lone Star Conference action.

The Aggies played the Greyhounds tough in the middle sets dropping the second set 25-22 and winning the third 27-25.  Cameron in the opening set only had one error but was limited to nine kills; ENMU would be relentless on CU with 21 kills to win the set 25-16.  In set four, the Aggies hit .074 as a team with the Greyhounds attacking at .256 with 18 kills.

In the set CU won, there would be 11 tie scores before Ania Keene hit a service ace to push the score to 26-25.  The Greyhounds would let the Aggies then clinch the set point off of an attack error.

Eastern New Mexico hit .231 with 70 kills on Cameron.  Lauren Frye had a career match against the Aggies hitting .500 with 28 kills. 

Haleigh McClain-Ward led CU with 37 assists and she also added six digs.  Kylee Quillin led the team with 15 digs and Paige Dixon had 12.  The Greyhounds led in overall digs 73 to 59.

The Aggies remain winless in their first five LSC matches and will fall to 2-11 overall; ENMU moves to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in league play.

Cameron will remain on the road to face Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce this upcoming Friday and Saturday.
