Aggies fall 67-54 at No. 4 Lubbock Christian

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Cameron women's basketball team began a three game non-conference stretch with a 67-54 loss at No. 4 Lubbock Christian on Saturday afternoon.

While CU managed to go toe-to-toe with the nationally ranked Chaps in the first half, LCU controlled the second half, leading by as much as 14 points to move to 11-1 overall while the Aggies drop to 4-6 on the year.

Jamie Bonnarens led the Aggies with 20 points and 14 rebounds for her third double-double this season. Parfitt McNair scored 10 points, and Ava Battese added nine. Lejha Smith grabbed nine boards.

Five Chaps scored in double figures with Tess Bruffey leading the way on 16 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks.

Cameron shot 33 percent from the field, outmatched by LCU's 51 percent on the floor. CU did better at the line, shooting 67 percent to their 45 percent. The Chaps doubled CU in three-pointers with eight.

The Aggies held their own in the first half, gaining the lead three times. CU had a strong second quarter outing strong, outscoring the Chaps 16-15, but in the final minute LCU made a layup to grab a 27-25 advantage at halftime.

The Chaps controlled the game in the second half, never letting CU see the lead. They led by as much as 14 points themselves and held the Aggies at bay with five three-pointers and 57 percent shooting from the field.

LCU took the game 67-54 in the teams' first meeting since 2000.
