CU women fall to No. 13 Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Cameron women's basketball team could not keep up with a hot shooting No. 13 Angelo State to fall 90-72 on Thursday evening.

Natalie Halbleib nabbed her second double-double in a row and sixth of the season after a 10 point, 11 rebound outing. She also led the Aggies with five assists.

Leading in scoring was Jamie Bonnarens with 14 points, Caitlin Clancy 13 points and Brittany Hill 11 points.

The Aggies trailed by 12 points at the half after shooting just 30 percent from the field while the Rambelles shot 52 percent.

In the second quarter, the Aggies did manage to cut ASU's lead down to four as the Rambelles went without a field goal for nearly four minutes.

However, in the final five minutes of the half, CU shot just 1-for-10 on the floor as the Rambelles reclaimed their 48-36 lead heading into the locker room.

At the half both sides had made four three-pointers, and CU went a perfect 8-for-8 at the line, but ASU outnumbered going 14-for-18 from the stripe.

In the second half, Cameron worked to get within a two possession deficit again, but it is the closest they would get as ASU remained on the offensive to maintain a double digit lead throughout the final period for the 90-72 win.

Overall, Cameron shot 34 percent on the floor, 24 percent from beyond the arc and 81 percent at the line. Meanwhile, ASU shot 51 percent from the field, 41 percent from out deep and 67 percent at the charity stripe.

The Aggies are now 8-11 overall and 6-7 in the Lone Star Conference. Angelo State is 17-2 overall and 11-2 in the league.
