CU gets shutout in doubleheader with Mustangs

WICHITA FALLS, Texas —The Cameron softball team was shutout in doubleheader against Midwestern State on Saturday, getting outscored 13-0. CU lost the three game series two games to one.

Cameron is now 23-9 overall and 11-4 in Lone Star Conference play, while the Mustangs improve to 14-17 overall and 5-10 in conference.

In game one, MSU scored two runs in the second and one in the third before striking for six in the bottom of the fourth to get the 9-0 win.

All of the Mustangs runs in game two came in the fourth inning as they scored all four runs on four straight singles.

The CU offense was held to just five hits on the day, with Brenna Busby leading the way with two hits, while her sister Callie Busby had the only hit of game two.

Bethany Hines is now 17-4 after going four innings, giving up 13 hits, and a season high eight earned runs. Alyssa Osterdock (6-5) got the loss in game two, going six innings and giving up four runs on six hits.

Midwestern's Erin Knox struck out six in game one, while Peyton Helton threw her third one-hitter of the season in game two. Lauren Lindgren led them at the plate with four hits and three runs scored on the day.

The Aggies will have next weekend off to rest and then will be back at home on March 31-April 1 for a three game series against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
