STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Aggie baseball team fell in both games of their double header to close out their series with Tarleton State on Sunday. The Aggies lost game three 17-2 and game four 5-0.
Cameron is now 25-18 overall and 6-10 in the Lone Star Conference. Tarleton State moves to 28-20 with an 11-12 league mark. CU fell in the TSU series one game to three.
In the first game of Sunday's double header, TSU posted an eight run lead by the fourth inning until Cameron could get on the board in the fifth as
Micah Kaaukai scored the Aggies' first run on a double down the right field line.
CU made it an 8-2 game as
Tom McGarry grounded out to shortstop, scoring
Colton Adams in the process.
However, the Texans would put the game further out of reach by scoring nine runs in the sixth inning alone, four of which resulted from hit batters and three on walks.
Starter
Oswaldo Godina was charged with the loss as he moves to 2-2 on the mound.
Cameron posted two errors while the Texans had none. TSU recorded 15 hits to CU's five.
In the nightcap, TSU grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the first inning. Their first run resulted from a pitcher's error, the second an RBI double, the third on a bases loaded walk and the fourth on an RBI single.
The Texans added another run in sixth from a sacrifice fly. CU's offense couldn't get going only accounting for three hits total to the Texans's six.
Andrew Garza (3-4) was charged with the second game loss as he allowed four earned runs.
The Aggies will wrap up the regular season at home when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville May 5-7 at McCord Field.
