LAWTON – The Cameron volleyball team fell 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 15-25, 17-25) to Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday evening in the Aggie Gym.
Cameron is now 4-9 overall and 2-4 in the Lone Star Conference. TAMUC is 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the league.
Ania Keene led the Aggies in kills notching 12, and next was
Paige Dixon with eight kills.
Brandy Carr put down an impressive eight blocks, and
Bristol Lewis added six as well for a total of 13 team blocks by the Aggies.
Brook Conley recorded 31 assists, and
Brittnee Altic led in digs with 15 while
Katrina Campbell contributed 12 digs.
The Lions were led by twin sisters Jaslyn Wacker and Jaryn Wacker who each knocked down 14 kills. TAMUC had nine service aces, and the Aggies had none.
To start the match, the Aggies hit just .053 and fell 25-20 while the Lions hit .171 with 14 kills. Cameron got revenge in set two by hosting a block party, notching eight blocks paired with 11 kills to take the set 25-22.
Cameron also recorded 11 kills in set three, but the Aggies were no match for a powerful Lion offense who pounded a set-high 19 kills with a .447 hitting clip to win 25-15.
The Lions controlled much of the fourth and final set, holding the Aggies below .100 once again to win the set, 25-17, and match.
Cameron returns to the court at 2 p.m. Saturday as they host Texas Woman's.
