LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron women's basketball team caught the turnover bug in a 79-51 loss to Central Oklahoma in their home opener on Tuesday night.

The Aggies gave the ball over 27 times, 19 of which came on UCO steals. Thirty-four of the Bronchos 79 points came off CU turnovers, while the Black and Gold just had 13 points after their opposition turned over the ball.

CU's one bright spot came in the form of freshman Maighan Hedge, who scored 22 points on 9-16 shooting from the floor and 4-6 from the perimeter. Two of Hedge's four three pointers came on last second, half-court heaves to end the third and fourth quarters.

As a team, the Aggies shot just 35.7 percent from the floor, but did hit 10-25 from deep. They only went to the foul line four times, hitting just one of their free throw attempts. Natalie Halbleib was the only other CU player to reach double-figures with 10 points and 12 boards, her second double-double of the season.

Cameron led by one point after the first quarter, but in the second they started to struggle and UCO pulled away with a 23-9 frame. It did not get much better in the back half of the contest, as the Aggies made just 10 of their 32 attempts in the second half to be outscored 41-26.

The Bronchos had four players score in double-figures, with Megan Hartness leading the way with 18 points off the bench, while Micayla Haynes had 17. As a team, UCO shot 46 percent from the floor, 39 percent from three, and went 12-15 from the charity stripe.

With the loss, CU falls to 1-2 on the young season, while UCO remains unbeaten with a 3-0 record.

Cameron's next test will be in just under a week, when they host Emporia State on Monday, Nov. 19.
