B. Busby homers in 5-1 loss to TexAnns

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The No. 21 ranked Aggie softball team struggled to get the bats going as they fell to Tarleton State on Friday night, 5-1.

Cameron struck first on a leadoff solo homer by Brenna Busby in the top of the first, but TSU answered with three runs coming in to score on a double of the bat of Marisa Flores.

The Texans added two more in the fifth inning to add to their lead. The TSU pitcher, Jordan Withrow, was dominant in the circle, giving up just two hits, walking two, and striking out 10 to secure the 5-1 victory for the home team.

B. Busby and Kaitlyn Alvarado had the only two hits for the Black and Gold, while Annie Combs walked twice in her three at-bats.

The loss was charged to Rylee Willmon, who is now 7-4 on the season, as she went 4.1 innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits with three Ks. Bethany Hines pitched the final 1.2 and struck out three while allowing two hits.

Cameron is now 15-6 overall and 7-3 in Lone Star Conference play, while the TexAnns improve to 17-5 and 5-5 in conference games. The two teams will square off Saturday for the final two games of the series beginning at 1 p.m.
